The greatest way to show respect to our troops is to not put their lives on the line when it is unnecessary. Every soldier is someone’s child, life partner, brother, sister, mom, dad, you name it. We must elect someone who views our soldiers as such and not just another number in our defense forces.

America has over 800 military bases worldwide in over 70 countries. 195 total countries are members of the United Nations. The budget proposed for the Department of Defense, which is likely to pass, is set for $850B. America spends as much on weaponry as the next nine nations combined. The Pentagon has failed six audits in a row.

We must end the imperial project and focus on all that has been neglected domestically: the crumbling infrastructure, homelessness, failing water systems, and an economy that only works for the wealthy.

It will be a focal point for me to bring our troops home, and to end the forever wars. I will also speak out on misinformation campaigns from warmongering politicians regardless if it costs me my seat.

I will look to repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) from 2001. The AUMF has been used by Democratic, and Republican, Presidents to justify military operations, airstrikes, combat, detention centers, and supporting partner militaries, in at least 22 countries.
